Anne Evans leads REAL LIFE ministries in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She counsels, mentors, and is an author of the Real Life book series on the topics of marriage, relational restoration, intimacy, and more.
Anne and her late husband Tim Evans were married for over 43 years. Tim was a fireman and Anne was a nurse. In his early forties, Tim retired from his position as Deputy Fire Chief from a growing Chicagoland suburban department. For over two decades, they invested into the lives of other couples together as a team. They were ordained as pastors and went on to receive their master’s and doctor of practical ministry diplomas from Wagner Leadership Institute. Tim & Anne focused on living out God’s creational marriage design of mutuality, and functional equality—what they referred to as co-leadership.
The Evans had a deep impact on the life of Jordan and Mindi Linscombe five years into the Linscombe's marriage. They provided them with frameworks and tools to help live out an approach to marriage, leading together, and unified decision making that is a huge part of the Linscombe's day-to-day life.
In this honest and emotional episode, host Mindi Linscombe and Anne cover topics including:
🔸Moments of reflection to honor Tim and how he impacted the Linscombes and so many others.
🔸Tim & Anne's early years and how they learned how to apply teamwork (from their fire fighting and nursing work) into co-leading their marriage.
🔸The traffic light framework the Evans used and teach for unified decision making and why ''Unity Trumps Disunity”.
🔸The importance of the question, ”Who Told You That”? And how we need to challenge some unhelpful concepts and preconceived notions that try to be 'truths' in our mind.
🔸How the Linscombes have applied learning from the Evans to help collaborate better as husband and wife around the home, in work, in parenting, and more.
🔸How the Linscombe used the traffic light approach in the tough decisions they had to make navigating their son's childhood cancer journey.
🔸Why unity in marriage is a framework that helps families thrive.
🔸Ungodly Beliefs: Anne and Mindi unpack what these are, examples of their own, and ways to counteract those with Godly Beliefs.
The Linscombes want to thank Anne for joining on this episode and for the joy of having been positively impacted by Tim & Anne's work. Jordan & Mindi continue to be challenged & encouraged by this prayer from Tim & Anne: ”May the God who is both great and good make your marriage stronger and your hearts braver. May He create not only a willingness to die for your marriage but also a passion to live for it.”'
